80 museums from all over the world have come together to create one of the greatest travelling collections of Ancients artifacts ever seen. With over 400 pieces collected from Egypt, Rome, Pompeii and Spain from Cleopatra VII Philopator’s empire being displayed at Madrid’s own Canal Art Exhibition Centre. Though the exhibit is mainly focused on the historical figure who lead Egypt, seduced Rome’s most power men and lived in the lap of luxury, visitors will also see real costumes worn by Elizabeth Taylor and other props from the film. The collection features a chronological representation of her life, from her family roots in Greece all the way through her famous death and power struggle with Rome’s greatest emperor Augustus. Finally, there will be an impressive art gallery featuring incredible artistic representations of Cleopatra from famous Renaissance painters and other artists through the span of history. This is truly not something to miss out on!
As mentioned above, the exhibition is being held at the Fundación Canal Madrid which is located at Paseo de la Castellana at Metro Plaza de Castilla. General admission starts at €7 and goes up to €10 if you want the audio guide. It will be in Madrid from now until May 8th, so you have a lot of time to see it! What are you waiting for?
