The weather is getting colder and holidays are just around the corner. It’s time to experience the incredibile holiday traditions that come with them. Every year with the beginning of the Advent season the Evangelical Church Friedenskirche hosts an amazing German Christmas market called “Weihnachtsmarkt” in the center of Madrid.

Christmas markets have been around for centuries, they originated in Germany and other German speaking countries around 1384. They were originally held during the four weeks of Advent, which is a christian tradition of preparing for the Nativity of Jesus.

The Friedenskirche is a small Church, and is beautifully decorated to look like a traditional German village square – with bright Christmas lights and pine trees. The market offers many typical German food and drink, like Bretze, Bratwurst and Glühwein. You will also find clothing, advent wreaths and many other Christmas decorations.

Take a break from studying for your exams and join in the Christmas Spirit! You can visit the market from November 25th till November 27th at Paseo de la Castellana 6 (Patio Friedenskirche):

Friday  (25.11) from 18.00 – 22.00
Saturday (26.11) from 14.00 – 22.00
Sunday (27.11) from 12.00 – 15.00

Time to get into Christmas mood 🙂
