ARCOmadrid is a contemporary art festival that has been held in Madrid in the month of February every year since 1982. ARCO is considered to be one of the most important modern art events worldwide. This fair brings Latin American and European countries together to celebrate the latest movements in contemporary art. ARCOmadrid also will focus on the collaboration of art between artists from different generations. This year, the festival will honor the country of Peru as the guest of honor. As such, a selection of Peruvian galleries will be on display at the fair. At the festival, there will be presentations, dialogues, conferences, and art on display to create a sense of community between artists from different countries. Art will be critiqued by a panel of different judges, many of them from Peru. There will be over 200 different galleries on display for visitors to walk through and observe. These galleries are from a range of different countries, including Spain, Italy, Puerto Rico, and Portugal. ARCO also promotes art collectors, therefore, some of the pieces in the galleries will be for sale.
The event will be organized into several different sections. The usual sections that will be on display will be the General Programme, the Dialogues Programme, a research space, Special Projects (which will include large-format pieces) and the Opening Section. A Forum of Experts will be included in the itinerary of the event to allow these professionals to analyse the art at the festival. Read below for details on this event you won’t want to miss!
