Nochevieja Salamanca takes place in one of Spain’s most important university and cultural cities, turning the night on Plaza Mayor to Spain’s biggest student party with around 40.000 students participating from near and far.
This famous university town is home to a massive Spanish and international student population, making the streets come to life both day and night. Sprinkled with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, magnificent architecture, pretty plazas, and endless cafes, it’s no wonder so many visitors make a point stop here each year.
Held the last week of fall semester classes in Salamanca, this celebration is a pre-new years’ gathering held by students who want to celebrate together before going home for the actual event amongst family members. Today, it’s morphed into a big commercial festival attracting young people far and wide, in particular students from all over Spain to this spectacular end-of-the-year party.
