A hidden gem for many tourists, Northern Spain is a nature lover’s paradise. Experience sweeping Mediterranean views on the coast of San Sebastián, indulge in Michelin-star pintxos in Bilbao and wander the charming streets of Vitoria during this Basque excursion.
On this trip we will visit all of País Vasco’s major sites with our organized tours through Gothic-style alleyways and marvel at the breathtaking Guggenheim museum. Unwind at charming street-side cafés and cozy up with a warm coffee on Playa de la Concha after a packed day of marveling at ornate architecture in the old quarter.
With hostel booked, buses scheduled and breakfast arranged for you, all you have to do is reserve your ticket!

With an eclectic mix of antique and modern architecture, Bilbao is the economic as well as the cultural center of País Vasco. This is where we will spend our first day. After checking in to our hostel we’ll head out for our walking tour. During the tour, our official local guide will take us through both the old town and new town of Bilbao. You will also witness how tradition blends with modernity to give this city a truly remarkable feel. During your free time, don’t forget to visit the world famous Guggenheim museum, relax by the lush coastlines and taste the mouthwatering pintxos!
After an exciting first day, you’ll be free to enjoy the evening at your own pace.
The next day after our complimentary breakfast at our hostel, we will continue on to San Sebastián. Our official local guided tour will take us through its beautiful streets and all along its coastline to see everything from the Miramar Palace to the baroque church of Santa María. You will fall in love with this diverse city! Sweet cafés in the old quarter, gothic-style architecture, modernist seaside sculptures, soft beaches along the Playa de la Concha and Michelin-Star pintxos!
After a fabulous day of exploration, we will drive back to Bilbao where everyone can enjoy another free evening in País Vasco.
On Sunday we’ll enjoy our final breakfast at our hostel and make our way back to Madrid. On the way, we will stop by a beautiful, charming and historic city – Vitoria-Gasteiz – often shortened to simply Vitoria. After taking a quick stop there, we will stop again an hour later for some free time in Burgos, known for its gothic cathedral, before we finally make our way to back to Madrid.
In Bilbao we will be staying at an hostel. Room assignments will be determined based on the information that you provide us when signing up.
When signing up for this trip you will see the option to indicate a “group name”. This is where you can inform of about who you would like to share a room with. We will always do our best to keep your group together.
If you have purchased a ticket without indicating a group name, we will assume that you are ok with being placed in a room with someone you may not know. If this is not the case, please reach out to us at [email protected] to inform us about your roommate request.
Citylife offers a basic travel insurance package with every trip that can be purchased as an add-on to your ticket. The insurance is provided by Innovac and will cover basic medical emergencies for the duration of the trip.
It is not mandatory to take this specific insurance that we offer, but please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to make sure that you are travelling with proper coverage. If you decide not to take the insurance, we will consider that you are covered by another policy.
