Segovia is one of the most popular and favorite day trips for visitors staying in Madrid. Segovia is home to a Roman aqueduct, which gave the city its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Known as one of the best-preserved monuments on the Iberian Peninsula, the aqueduct towers at 28,5 meters tall. Additionally, the gorgeous Alcázar of Segovia is rumored to be Walt Disney’s inspiration for the Cinderella castle! El Escorial is famed for its breathtaking monastery which houses many of the Spanish royal family, as well as one of the most beautiful secret libraries in Europe.

We will start our day in beautiful El Escorial where you will have roughly 2 hours to explore. The town is very small and a perfect place for a coffee and snack on a terrace. If you’re feeling adventurous you can explore the monastery gardens for free or pay to enter the building and explore it’s beautiful halls. Entry is very affordable and there will be a reduced price for those with a student card.
Then we will say goodbye to El Escorial and make our way towards Segovia. As soon as we drop you off you will be free to enjoy the rest of your day as you wish. There are many things to visit in Segovia like its famous cathedral, its Disney-esque castle, various mini museums, shopping and of course, eating. Segovia is famous for its suckling pig dish, known as cochinillo.
After a beautiful day of exploration we will return to Madrid in the evening.
