Have you always wanted to go on an adventure? We’re ready to take you through Morocco for an unforgettable experience. From the mountains in the north to the desert in the south, on this trip we will see everything Morocco has to offer! Below you will find a detailed outline the itinerary for our African Adventure.
You will notice we have not mentioned exact times in this outline. This is because our itinerary could and, eventually will be subject to change at any given time due to reasons out of Citylife’s control. Such as traffic, weather or sea navigation conditions.
Day 1: Madrid
We’ll kick off our Moroccan adventure with a road trip from Madrid to Tarifa, where we drive throughout the night and arrive to the most southern tip of Spain, Tarifa, in the morning. Please, bring warm and comfy clothes to sleep on the bus!
Day 2: Tarifa – Tangier – Casablanca – Marrakesh
Early in the morning, we will take the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier and touch down on the shores of Morocco. During the hour-long ferry ride, you can relax on deck and take in the beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean meeting the Mediterranean Sea. Upon arrival our minivans will be waiting for us to head to Morocco’s economic capital, Casablanca for a mandatory stop at Hassan II Mosque, world’s second largest Mosque (Mecca being the largest) and then continue our journey to the imperial city of Marrakech where we’ll stay our first night.Hotel accommodation is provided in Marrakesh.
Day 3: Marrakesh
After breakfast (included), we will get to experience the Moroccan culture at its best through a city tour including the outstanding Bahia Palace, and the Koutoubia Mosque with its famous minaret, built by the Al Mohades. After a free evening, you’ll also get to experience the charm of the famous Jamaa el-Fnaa market square which is spilling with delicious local foods, hand-crafted clothing and jewelry, and much more! Hotel accommodation is provided in Marrakesh.
Day 4: Marrakesh – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges
Our day begins with a provided hotel breakfast so we can head towards Ouarzazate, known as the “Door of the Desert” through the Atlas Mountains, filled with stunning natural views, and then we will stop in Tizi n’Tichka for some amazing panoramic picture opportunities. We will continue south and follow the 6km track that leads to the village of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for its Kasbah (which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Several famous movies, such as the Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed in this beautiful town. Then we continue to the Dades Gorges were our accommodation will be waiting for us. Dinner included.
Day 5: Dades Gorges – Todra Canyons – Sahara Desert
After breakfast, we’ll head up the mountains to experience one of the best views of the postcard worthy Moroccan canyons. We’ll continue through a path filled with beautiful scenery and unforgettable Kasbahs (Islamic Fortresses), each one unique from the next. After several stops, we will arrive at one of the most iconic places in the South of Morocco: the Todra Canyon. Cliff walls of epic proportions and immense beauty surround the channel of the River Todra; it’s a climber’s paradise!
Time to head to the Sahara desert. We will only take the necessities as we take a camel ride about a 1 hour into the desert to reach our Berber camp. We’ll have the chance to sandboard the dunes and catch the sunset over the Sahara before heading to dinner at the camp in the Sahara desert. You can climb the dunes near the camp with a warm cup of tea and enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert and relax after the adventure-filled day. Finally, we’ll spend the night in typical Berber tents, under a spectacular canopy of stars. Accommodation in Berber tents and a very special traditional dinner included. A Bonfire party filled with surprises will follow after the Dinner to celebrate the arrival of the new year!!
Day 6: Sahara Desert – Ifrane – Fez
After an unforgettable night in the desert we start with an early climb to the closest dune, to catch a glimpse of the sun rising over the dunes.. then a filling breakfast before we kick off a day filled with exploration through several quaint and beautiful towns in Morocco. First, we head to Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco. We will go through Erfoud, which is rich in fossils and history. We will pass the Ziz Valley and take in the sights of the palm trees and canyons surrounding us. Once past the port of Tizi-n Talghomt, we will stop in Midelt for lunch.
Continuing our journey, we’ll venture through the cedar forest and stop to see the Moroccan monkeys in their natural habitat! Next, we will go through Ifrane (which has been called the Moroccan Switzerland) and arrive in Fez, Morocco’s cultural capital. Hotel accommodation and dinner are provided in Fez.
Day 7: Fez – Chaouen
After breakfast (Included), we explore one of the oldest imperial cities. Founded in 808, Fez is one of the first political, religious, and cultural capitals in the world and is truly incredible. We will begin the official tour at the Golden Doors of the spectacular Royal Palace. Next, we will wander around and inside the historical Medina, allowing the beautiful architecture and surrounding sites to transport us back over 1000 years ago. In Fez, you will get to experience everything: mosques, madrassas, karabansarais and several other cultural sites. When the tour is over, we will head to Chaouen, the famous “hippie,” fully painted, blue city. Hotel accommodation will be provided in Chaouen.
Day 8: Chaouen – Tangier – Tarifa
After breakfast, our local official guide will take us around unraveling some of Chaouen’s best kept secrets. After the tour we have free time to explore the blue city by day and go shopping before heading back to the harbor in Tangier, take the ferry to Tarifa and from there the bus to Madrid. Please bring warm and comfy clothes to sleep on the bus!
Day 9: Arrival in Madrid
Early morning, we will arrive in Madrid!

Please make sure you have your passport with you and that it is valid for at least 6 months from the moment you enter Morocco!
You don’t need a visa (your passport is sufficient) if you are from the European Union, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Denmark, Finland, Guinea, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Korea (Rep. of), Kuwait, Libya, Liechtenstein, Mali, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Niger, Norway, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, or Venezuela.

We offer several packages for our African Adventure trip to make sure that you can choose the trip that best suits you. Please read these details carefully and feel free to explore all our other Morocco dates during the semester by clicking here.
Group A & Group B
These are our full African Adventure packages, which include transportation from Spain (Madrid) by bus, as well as ferry tickets and vice versa when returning from Morocco. Though these trips depart on the same day and visit all the same locations throughout Morocco, They will not be travelling together at any point during the trip.
If you happen to be booking with a group of friends, please be sure to coordinate together which package to book to ensure you are travelling with the same group. Transfers from one group to another may not be possible due to seat limitations, however if the option is available the process will cost 30€ to cover administrative fees.
Group A (Meet us There):
This option is perfect for those who wish to skip the bus and ferry ride from Madrid to Marrakesh and take a flight instead. The flight is not included in this package, so you will need to book it yourself and send us the flight details no later than 1 week before departure. With these details, we will happily arrange your airport pick-up and drop off at no extra charge. Those choosing this package will then join Group A for the entire duration of the trip.
Below are a few things to keep in mind when looking into this option:
- You will need to fly in to Marrakesh and depart from Tangier.
- Plan to arrive to Marrakesh in the evening of Sunday April 5th.
- Plan to leave Tangier in the evening of Saturday April 11th (after 20:30 if you’d like us to arrange the drop off).

Lunches range from approx. 5€ to 10€. There aren’t any activities that will cost you any money, as they are all included (No surprises nor hidden costs). To be on the safe side, we recommend a daily budget of 20€ for food and drinks. We will stop every other day at big supermarkets for snacks and drinks (Buying your food there you can lower the daily budget considerably).
Please be advised that in accordance with our terms and conditions the City Card membership cannot be used to obtain discounts for anyone but the card holder.
