This day is all about arriving to Egypt. Once the group is together we will head to our hotel to rest for the night.
Our day begins with a hotel breakfast (included) so we can fill up before heading out! The day begins with a visit to Memphis/Saqqara and the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure. After spending the morning in Saqqara we will continue with a guided visit of the Giza Plateau, showcasing the Great Pyramids, including the magnificent Great Pyramid of Khufu and the Great Sphinx, all remarkable examples of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship and history. Transfer back to the hotel at the end of the visit.
In the evening your Citylife guides will arrange an optional felucca dinner experience on the Nile for you.
On our second day, after a complimentary breakfast, we’ll dive into the rich history of Alexandria, a city where ancient wonders meet Mediterranean charm. Our journey will take us through its most iconic landmarks, starting with the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, one of the largest Roman burial sites in Egypt, blending Pharaonic and Greco-Roman influences. We’ll then visit the impressive Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern tribute to the legendary Library of Alexandria, before exploring the well-preserved Amphitheatre of Alexandria, a remarkable relic of the Roman era. Our final stop will be Pompey’s Pillar, a granite column standing as a symbol of Alexandria’s storied past.
After a day packed with discovery, we’ll make our way back to Cairo by the evening.
Our final day begins with an early breakfast at our hotel, fueling you up for our last day in Egypt. We will then visit the Grand New Egyptian Museum, which was recently opened and showcases Egypt’s rich heritage. It is the largest archaeological museum complex in the world and hosts more than 100,000 artifacts. For the first time ever, King Tut’s entire treasure collection is on display.
From there, we head to Islamic Cairo to explore the historic Salah El-Din Citadel, a formidable 12th-century fortress that once served as the seat of power for Egypt’s rulers. Within its walls stands the magnificent Mohamed Ali Mosque, a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture inspired by Istanbul’s Sultan Ahmed Mosque.
To end the trip on a vibrant note, we’ll visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where you’ll have free time to soak in the atmosphere, shop for souvenirs, or enjoy a traditional Egyptian tea before heading to the airport for your flight home.
