  • TIE: This is mandatory if your stay in Spain is longer than six months.
  • Empadronamiento: This is mandatory to be able to access public services such as health services and education, just as you would do if you were a local.

I WILL work during my stay. What documents do I need?

  • TIE: This is mandatory as it permits you to reside legally in Spain. However, if you will stay in Spain for 6 months or less, your foreigner identity number will be printed in your Passport with your visa and you won’t have to apply for the physical card.
  • Empadronamiento: This is mandatory to be able to access public services such as health services and education, just as you would do if you were a local.
  • Social Security Number: This is mandatory in order to work legally in Spain*.

*If you arrive in Spain on a Student Visa, you technically do not have rights to work and hold a job unless you specifically apply for a document which gives you permission to work on a student visa.
