Natural pools are an extremely unique phenomenon here in Madrid. Since the pools offer complete tranquility without the city noise, they are located far away from the city center, requiring a lengthy commute.But it’s incredibly worth it! The water in these pools is even filtered from the natural lakes and rivers. If you want to truly escape the city and surround yourself with nature, pack a picnic and make a day of it!

1. Las Berceas in Cercedilla


Tucked away in the heart of Cercedilla, Las Berceas offers a refreshing escape into the natural world. Surrounded by pine forests and rocky hills, these natural pools blend beautifully into the mountain landscape. The crystal-clear water stays cool even in summer, making it the perfect spot to unwind, swim, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

Distance: Approximately 60 kilometers from Madrid.
Public Transport: Take the Cercanías C-9 train to Cercedilla, then enjoy a 20-minute walk to Las Berceas.


2. Pozas de Canencia


Hidden in the lush forest of Canencia, the Pozas de Canencia feel like a secret waiting to be discovered. These natural pools, carved out by water over time, resemble small, open-air grottos. Sunlight filters through the trees, dancing on the surface of the cool, clear water and inviting you to take a dip and reconnect with nature; something we all need after a long, warm week in Madrid!

Distance: Approximately 80 kilometers from Madrid.
Public Transport: Catch the 195 bus from Plaza Castilla to Canencia. The natural pools are within walking distance.

3. Riosequillo


Tucked into the peaceful landscape of Buitrago de Lozoya, the Riosequillo Natural Pools are perfect for a quiet day out. The water’s cool, the air feels fresh, and the rocks around the pools make it feel like nature made this spot just for relaxing. It’s calm, pretty, and exactly where you want to be when you need a break.

Distance: About 75 kilometers from Madrid.
Public Transport: Board the 191 bus from Plaza Castilla to Buitrago de Lozoya. From there, it’s a short walk to the pools.

4. Puente de Batán


Just outside the busy city, Puente de Batán is a peaceful spot that feels far from it all. The pools have soft, sandy edges and water so clear it catches the sunlight like glass. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, your thoughts quiet, and the only thing you hear is the soft rhythm of nature.

Distance: About 10 kilometers from Madrid.
Public Transport: From Plaza Castilla, take the 191 bus to Tres Cantos. From Tres Cantos, take the 723 bus to Batán. The pools are a short stroll away.

5. Las Presillas in Rascafría


Hidden in the green hills of Rascafría, Las Presillas feels like a quiet little world of its own. The water is crystal clear, shining in the sun. Nearby, the river hums softly and the trees move with the breeze, making everything feel calm and easy; like nature’s version of music.

Distance: Approximately 90 kilometers from Madrid.
Public Transport: Take the Cercanías C-9 train to Cercedilla, then transfer to the 684 bus to Rascafría. A short walk will lead you to the pools.

  • Me and my friends did the Cercedilla pool, thanks for the lead! Took the bus up to the pool instead of the hiking, though 🙂
