As one of Europe´s main big cities, Madrid is one of those places where, if knowing where to search, you´ll be able to find anything you´re looking for! From the most hipster/alternative local stores to the fanciest luxury brands, surely the Spanish capital won´t disappoint you! Although prices are quite moderate throughout the year, the best months for shopping in Madrid are from January to March, during the winter sales, and from July to September, during the summer sales! You can also find bargains on specific days, such as “Black Friday“, the last Friday of November. Depending on your budget and what you are trying to find, this guide might help you figure out where you should go first, and save yourself some time!

Calle Serrano & Barrio de Salamanca

If Gossip Girl, Sex in the City or Pretty woman were to happen anywhere in Madrid it would most definitely be in barrio Salamanca. Pure luxury reaches its heist in this fancy neighbourhood where Prada, Carolina Herrera or Louis Vuitton share this unique spot in the city. Make sure to not only stroll around the main street but all its beautiful alleyways too!

Malasaña & La Latina

Hipsters, punks or hippies, what´s clear is that all IT people have hung out in these neighbourhoods for decades. Hundreds of hidden local stores offering both the quirkiest and raddest stuff in the city can be found here, as well as the city´s best vintage and second hand shops. Malasaña´s neighbours are known as the coolest people of Madrid, so if you want to keep up to date with the new trends, just go and look around!

Gran Vía

Featuring all major Spanish brands, including Zara, Stradivarius, Oysho, Massimo Dutti and the wonderful department store El Corte Inglés, Gran Vía is one of the liveliest areas of the city, perfect for shopping, dining, or bar crawling. As it´s name implies, this is one of the largest streets of Madrid, going all the way from Plaza de España to Cibeles! And there´s basically nothing you won´t be able to find here!

El Rastro

El Rastro is known to be Madrid´s biggest public flea market, here you´ll be able to find a little bit of everything, from antiques and furniture to books and clothes. There are also plenty of food stalls in case you get hungry while shopping for bargains! This market takes place every Sunday morning, and the atmosphere is lovely, but because of it being very popular amongst tourists you should beware of pickpockets!

Calle Fuencarral & Its Side Streets

Not only filled with amazing bars and excellent restaurants, this street is packed with both high-end and high-street brands such as Levi’s, Brandy Melville, Mac, Lush and Intimissimi. Being  very close to Malasaña, this is definitely one of Madrid´s locals´ favourite spots in the city to go shopping and hang out with friends!
